We all talk about boosting our immune system, What does this actually mean?

Well the simple answer is that Without a fighting immune system, we become susceptible to all sorts of infectious diseases and viruses.

A big topic of conversation at the minute and leading into the winter or any time of year for that matter ….. but there are a few  small things we can do on a daily basis to keep our defenses in tip-top shape.

But where to start? Implement a few of these ideas and make it a micro -habit… By the end of the week you’ll have racked up immune-boosting practices that will soon feel like part of your natural day.

1. Hydration

Staying hydrated is one way to boost your immune system. Create a water habit or even better add a ritual green juice to your day!!!!

2. Protein

Protein is super essential component of a healthy immune system. If protein from good quality lean protein whether you are sporting the plant based or not… is poor it can impair the body’s ability to make antibodies, large proteins produced by the immune system in response to the invasion of foreign molecules, that is the nasties affecting our immune system.
Hint… it easier to come protein at lunch or dinnertime, so breakfast is the perfect meal to squeeze in more. Make it a goal to add some food quality protein to your breakfast, a vegan protein powder or an egg 🥚 will do just the thing.

How Much Protein Is enough? The GO is 0.8g/kg of body weight each day for most, but keep in mind that people who are active need more. Weight-lifters or those training for a running or cycling event should eat between 1.2 to 1.7 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight daily.

3. More Vegies

Let’s all face it, All fruits and vegetables are beneficial for our health, but some can do more for our immune system than others. The greater the colour the richer the nutrients… who ever tells you not to eat fruit cause they are too high on sugar…… well i would shut that conversation down pretty quickly as you will be missing out on not just some defence fighting warriors but a whole lot else…. don’t eat fruit The greater the colour the greater the antioxidants, which the body uses to fight free radicals and are loaded with so many vitaminas and mineral which are simply the key most essential thing for the immune system…. I’m super guilty of eating to many fruits and vegetables that’s for sure….. studies tell us we don’t actually have enough…. hint get into a habit of taking some carrots, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, olives or berries as a snack to work or place in your lunch box….. ,this good habit may actually do more than boost ur immunity it may actually keep you looking for those chips or chocolate…. be proactive not reactive.

4. Sleep

Getting enough sleep can help boost your immune system. Super important…. for a  functioning immune system. Some studies show  that a good night’s sleep can boost the efficiency of White blood cells that help the body fight off viruses. Not only does sleep improve anti ageing but it can lead to a negative immune system…

The adrenal glands, which produce cortisol (the stress hormone), epinephrine and norepinephrine, get disrupted by poor or inadequate sleep, which, in turn has a negative impact on the immune system.

So let’s create a healthy immune system by giving your self a curfew, remove the stimulating activities, like exercise or caffeine… and maybe a good quality magnesium ( I can help you with this) to start a good sleep routine.

5. Ginger…My Favourite!

A good shot of ginger a day can help reduce inflammation and boost immunity. “Ginger is a rich antioxidant with antiviral and antibacterial properties.

I add a teaspoon of this in my mix daily.

Not so hard if you can lay your hands on a good quality ginger powder…

So by paying attention to these 5 ideas you may have a better immune system… leading into the winter….. and if you need some help to make this happen and enhance your health seek some professional help.. We are hear to help!!!
